Checkpoint: routines and first stories
Check your recall of routines and first stories and choose what to revisit.
What you’ll work on
- Check the sentence patterns from this unit.
- Complete a speaking and writing task.
- Choose a specific next practice step.
A short conversation
Google voice when available; device voice as a fallback. Read along, then try each line aloud.
Bonjour. Je m'appelle Alex. J'habite à Montréal.
Hello. My name is Alex. I live in Montreal.
Tu es à Paris pour combien de temps ?
How long are you in Paris for?
Pour une semaine. Hier, j'ai visité un musée.
For a week. Yesterday, I visited a museum.
Et demain ?
And tomorrow?
Je vais prendre le train. Je me lève à six heures.
I am going to take the train. I am getting up at six.
Bon voyage !
Have a good trip!
Try it before looking back
Complete the questions before returning to the earlier explanations. Revealing an answer helps you study but does not earn points for that attempt. Mistakes identify useful review items; they do not stop you from continuing the course.
Connect past, present, and plans
Use a present-tense routine for what normally happens, avoir plus a familiar participle for a completed activity, and aller plus an infinitive for a plan. A time word such as hier or demain helps the listener follow the change. This review samples the forms taught here, rather than every use of French past or future tenses.
Use the course in a real task
Choose a small task: introduce yourself, order a meal, ask for a route, or explain a day. Speak it once without reading. If you lose a word, ask for help or use a shorter phrase. Then review only the part that blocked your message.
Choose what to practice next
The quizzes show how you answered these questions; they do not certify a CEFR level or assess pronunciation. Continue with understandable listening, short reading, and conversation with feedback. Keep a specific next goal, such as hearing the difference between a present phrase and its passé composé.
Lesson vocabulary
Listen once, say it aloud, and try to recall the French before looking.

Practice questions
Try every question, then check your answers. Capital letters and punctuation do not affect your score. Accents and ç do matter.
Showing an answer makes that question a practice item worth zero for this attempt. Retry with the answers hidden when you’re ready. If audio cannot play, use Show answer / text to practice by reading.
Independent practice
These are independent practice tasks. The site does not record your voice, save your writing, or grade open-ended answers. Ask a teacher or conversation partner for feedback when you can.
Speaking practice
Give a one-minute account of an invented visit: introduce yourself, describe a routine and a completed activity, ask a practical question, and make a plan. Use a clarification phrase once.
Writing practice
Write 60–90 words about an invented visitor, including their name, location, routine, one past activity, and a future plan. Choose one sentence pattern to review next.
Review the lesson objectives
Select the tasks you can complete independently. This self-assessment does not change your quiz score.
Your self-check selections stay on this page only.Lesson completion
You can mark a lesson complete at any time. Questions you missed stay in My review until you answer them correctly or remove them.
Progress and review questions are saved in this browser only. Clearing browser data removes them.
