Review: people, things, and places
Connect the skills from people, things, and places in a practical exchange.
What you’ll work on
- Recall familiar phrases without a word bank.
- Connect patterns in a practical conversation.
- Use a clarification strategy when needed.
A short conversation
Google voice when available; device voice as a fallback. Read along, then try each line aloud.
Il y a une petite école dans cette rue.
There is a small school on this street.
Elle est près du café ?
Is it near the café?
Oui. Les livres sont dans la classe.
Yes. The books are in the classroom.
Tu es étudiant ?
Are you a student?
Oui, et j'ai vingt ans.
Yes, and I am twenty years old.
Match the noun phrase
Learn the noun’s gender, choose the article, and then check the adjective. L’ does not reveal gender, so use un or une when learning a new noun. A written plural can be present even when its final consonant is silent.
Choose the message before the verb
Use être for identity and location, avoir for age and possession, and il y a to introduce the existence of something. Say one example of each without reading. Then move the objects in an imaginary room and describe the new arrangement.
